K-6 at Dubbo Christian School

In 2012 we have 9 classrooms of children from Kindergarten to Year 6 actively learning under the guidance of teachers committed to teaching from a Christian Worldview. As a NSW Board of Studies registered school, our programs follow established syllabus outcomes just as in any other registered NSW school. However, God's Word, the Bible is not only one of the textbooks, it is the fundamental book that contains the truth that is integrated into all areas of the teaching and learning program at our school. A focus on the individual child as a person created in the image of God is an important aspect of our K-6 program.

Teachers, versed in God's Word, model for the students lives of discipleship to Jesus Christ. This is a distinctive characteristic of the school, and one of the main reasons parents enrol their children.

The students enjoy every aspect of school from daily physical education classes, Visual Arts, Computing classes and quality classroom instruction. Our outstanding Library Resource Centre plays an important part in the learning program for students.

Literacy and Numeracy, augmented through targetted classes, is a key focus of the K-6 curriculum. These skills are vital for successful lifelong learning and as such, are critical in this part of the school. Our students perform very well in national testing for literacy and numeracy. Students are also given the opportunity to be involved in choir, band and instrument tuition and a range of sporting opportunities.

Enjoyment and celebration are hallmarks of our school as we learn and play together. Students are also encouraged to develop their God given talents and skills, including leadership and community service.

We strongly encourage and value the partnership between school and home. Parent involvement in the learning process, both at home and in the classroom is vital and contributes to a strong and effective learning environment. Our parents are an integral part of our intensive reading program for instance which has great outcomes for our students.
