In 2010, the school adopted 4 strategic thrusts which communicate the strategic direction of the school for the 6 year period 2010-2015 in line with the school's Vision.
1. Distinctly Christian Community
Our Christian worldview of education recognises and submits to the centrality of Jesus and the authority of the Bible over all of life.
Dubbo Christian School will actively participate in and contribute to our related communities, helping to build and strengthen them. The Dubbo Christian School community will be dynamic, welcoming, inclusive and a caring place where students, parents and staff feel they belong. It will have diverse membership and this will be celebrated. We will be engaged with a range of local, national and international communities.
Through this engagement staff, parents and students will increase their understanding of and commitment to Christian faith and our vision of Christian education.
Strategies to achieve this thrust include;
• Maintaining commitment to the National Institute for Christian Education in its role in developing and promoting the intellectual capital that underpins and supports the action of Christian education
• Supporting parents and students in their understanding of Christian education.
• Encouraging students in their faith
• Evaluating curriculum from a Christian perspective
2. High Quality Schooling
Our Christian worldview recognises that the process of education is firstly and ultimately the responsibility of parents. Our school provides a range of educational programs, in partnership with parents, which seek to develop in each individual student an understanding of God's world and their place in it, equipping them for meaningful service in society.
Students will be taught and nurtured by professional staff within a framework of programs and relationships that seek to help each individual to realise their God given potential.
Strategies to achieve this thrust include:
• Improving academic achievement through a range of strategies
• Improving student engagement in the education process
• Developing and implementing an innovative Junior High School model
• Creating a culture of celebration of gifting, diligence and achievement
3. Exceptional Governance
We acknowledge that our school exists because of God's goodness and for His purposes. We aim to glorify Him in all that we do, continuing to provide Christian schooling into the future.
Dubbo Christian School will remain well governed and will use accepted corporate governance principles which emphasize separation of governance from management. The Board will focus on the larger issues and delegate with clarity and within agreed policies, to the Principal who will manage the school. The Board will place emphasis on engagement of Christian parents though the Association and Committee structures. The Board will evaluate the accomplishment of the school on a regular basis.
Strategies to achieve this thrust include;
• Enhancing moral ownership of the school through Association involvement and consultation
• Effective Board leadership and governance through appropriate and clear policy and operating guidelines
• Strong financial management
4. Supporting Families in Christian Education
The family is the foundational unit of society and the Dubbo Christian School community.
Healthy, committed and supportive families who share our school's vision for Christian life and education, thereby strengthening school community and its purposes.
Strategies to achieve this thrust include;
• Reviewing and evaluating fee structure and assistance programs
• Strengthening the relationship between families and the school
